Dr. Daniel Cullen

Daniel began working with Enfer in 2020 when he joined the Laboratory Team in their efforts to upscale COVID-19 testing. He soon moved into the Data Analysis Department, supervising a large team of analysts while playing a huge role in implementing new analytical processes including the data mining, visualisations, and automations – all while still working on completing his PhD! Daniel successfully defended his PhD in 2022 and has since moved into an informatics role at Enfer Medical, leading multiple projects within the IT department including LIMS administration, implementations, development, change and improvement.

What does a typical day at Enfer Medical look like for you?

A typical day usually involves developing solutions for atypical problems. These can range from program/app development for data processing to communication between lab instruments and LIMS to the integration of different software programs and systems into a coherent process. Every day involves constant learning.

Before working at Enfer Medical, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Renovating a medieval silver mine in the French Alps.

What did you want your adult profession to be when you were a child?

Palaeontologist.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?

A starting point is all you need. It’s up to you, and only you, how far you go from that point.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations within the company?

Tom Tobin. Always puts his team before himself.

What is your favourite aspect of your job?

Making people’s lives easier.

It’s Saturday afternoon and the sun is shining. What do you do?

Scuba diving.
