Quality Assurance Assistant

Enfer Medical is a private clinical laboratory for the examination of human samples with the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, management, prevention and treatment of disease.

The vision of Enfer Medical is to provide rapid, accessible, quality services for investigation of human infection and disease. This diagnostic and screening service supports the vision, set out in the government’s strategy for the future of healthcare in Ireland, to expand community-based patient care and to focus on national preventative screening programs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager and Deputy Quality Assurance Manager to manage the operation and development of the laboratory quality management system and engage all laboratory team members in the delivery and embedding of the culture and practices of that system.
  • To assist in maintaining a quality management system (QMS) for all aspects of laboratory practice so as to comply with the legal requirements of the standards of accreditation bodies.
  • To ensure the laboratory complies with relevant national and European legislation.
  • To ensure the QMS attains all standards within ISO15189 and to assist with laboratory audits by INAB.
  • To be instrumental in the development of a culture of quality and critical review within the laboratory.
  • To undertake audits as assigned, ensuring timely completion and clearance of non-conformities.
  • To assist with the co-ordination of training, development and competency assessment of staff within the laboratory.
  • Manage and review non-conformities including user complaints and internal non-conforming events.
  • To assist with the maintenance of a quality management database to include a document control system for all laboratory standard operating policies and procedures and records of incidents and complaints.
  • To assist with the maintenance of a training database to include records of staff training and competencies.
  • To ensure the promotion of awareness of users’ needs and requirements throughout the laboratory organisation.
  • To comply with Health and Safety requirements as detailed in the Safety Statement and associated policies and procedures, to report any defects or tasks being carried out in an unsafe manner and to ensure the promotion of Health and Safety to all staff.
  • Undertaking general administration duties including filing, photocopying, scanning, taking of minutes etc. as required.
  • Archiving all files and documentation as required.

Skill Requirements:

  • A degree with significant biological content or a Quality Management qualification is desirable.
  • At least two years’ experience in an ISO15189, ISO9001 or ISO17025 environment.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive team player with the ability to work at a fast pace.
